Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information the TradeYoga app ("TradeYoga", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. TradeYoga is operated by Simon Robinson, Site 3, Unit 3, Cold Hesledon Industrial Estate, Seaham, County Durham, SR7 8ST, who is the data controller for your information. Questions or requests: support@tradeyoga.co.uk.
Information we collect
| What | Details | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address and password (stored securely by Google Firebase — we never see your password), or your Google / Apple sign-in identifier. | To create and secure your account. |
| Profile | Name, username, age, gender (optional), trade, profile photo (optional). | To set up your profile and recommend routines for your trade. |
| Ache areas | The body areas you tell us ache (for example back or knees). | To recommend routines. See “Health information” below. |
| Activity | Routines you complete and when, plus streaks and points worked out from them. | To show your history, streaks, points and leagues. |
| Friends | Friend requests and connections, including the usernames involved. | To run the Friends feature and friend leagues. |
| Strava (optional) | If you connect Strava: your Strava athlete ID, name and access tokens. | To post your completed routines to your Strava account. |
| App performance | Technical data such as app start-up time, network timings, device model and OS version (Firebase Performance Monitoring). | To find and fix slow or broken parts of the app. |
Health information
Your ache areas may be treated as health information under UK data protection law. We only collect this because you choose to tell us, we use it only to recommend routines, and we never share it with other users or third parties. You can change or remove it at any time in My Profile → Edit profile. By adding ache areas you give your explicit consent for us to use them this way; you can withdraw that consent by removing them.
What other users can see
To make Friends and Leagues work, a small public profile is visible to other signed-in TradeYoga users: your username, display name, profile photo, trade, current and best streak, days active, last session date and points. Your email, age, gender, ache areas and workout history are never shown to other users. The overall league shows the top 50 users by points.
Sharing and Strava
- Share cards are created on your phone and only shared when you choose an app (for example Instagram or WhatsApp) from your phone’s share menu. That app’s own privacy policy then applies.
- Strava: if you connect it, we send each completed routine (name, duration and a short description) to your Strava account. You can disconnect at any time in My Profile, which also revokes our access.
Legal bases
We use your information to provide the app you signed up for (contract), to keep it secure and working well (legitimate interests), and — for ache areas — with your explicit consent.
Who processes your data
We use Google Firebase (Google Cloud) to host accounts, data, photos and our server functions, and Strava only if you connect it. Google may store data in data centres outside the UK; where it does, it uses legally approved safeguards. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, ache areas, workout history, streaks, points, friend connections, Strava link and profile photo straight away. Copies in Google’s routine backups are removed within about 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, download, or delete your information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else email support@tradeyoga.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
TradeYoga is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
